October 18th 2008, support for the Sundt Memorial Foundation (SMF) was at a peak as friends and donors from across the country came together to celebrate our 2008 Annual Fundraising Gala, Caribbean Jam! Many goals were met that night including the most funds raised in SMF history, a whopping $200,000 for the Natural High DVD Series, as well as a 50% increase in attendance (the event sold out its 300 tickets) and media coverage from every medium. A Change of Pace! This year featured a seated dinner that was served while guests took part in bidding wars over the amazing live auction items. The live auction was a huge success in offering bidders a variety of travel packages and even 2 yellow Labrador puppies who graced the stage with their best paw forward. All-in-all the full live presentation along with Sponsor-A-School and Sponsor-A-State brought in over $130,000.
Saturday night’s guests included honorees such as Switchfoot, loyal guests who continue to support year after year, and new friends. Guests all gathered together to help the continuing production and distribution of the “Natural High” DVD. Founder, Jon Sundt’s gave a heartfelt speech about the organization. Together with a sponsorship video, this reminded attendees of the night’s beneficial cause.
The Sundt Memorial Foundation’s vision to distribute a Natural High DVD to every school across the country, free of charge, has once again been seen. With the evenings overall net income of $200,000, the hopes of touching the lives of over 31 million students is getting closer to becoming a reality.
The success of this event will allow SMF to continue to flourish. It was a truly an outstanding evening for all of the schools across the country, who will in turn, be the true beneficiaries of the Caribbean Jam.
