2007 Acapulco Groove at the Birch Recap

Scripps

October 13, 2007 marked a memorable event for the Sundt Memorial Foundation (SMF). The Annual Fundraising Gala, Acapulco Groove, went out with a bang and a hint of salsa! As the twilight closed in over the panoramic ocean view of the Birch aquarium, SMF delivered a relaxing ambiance at the courtyard where the silent auction took place. The dim lighting verses the bold hues of red, orange, and banana yellow, was only the beginning of this sizzling atmosphere. The acoustic sounds of the live, Spanish guitar truly topped off the beginning of a groovy night.

This years Latin theme brought in, not only a touch of flavor with its wonderfully catered cuisine, but also   great vibe as 200 attendees including new friends and faithful supporters, gathered for the continuing effective production of “Natural High”, the innovative drug prevention DVD that has caused a movement among America’s youth.

Founder, Jon Sundt followed the live auction with a mesmerizing speech that reminded attendees of the nights beneficial cause, along with a sponsorship video that left guests in apprehension.

A grand slam! The live auction was a success in offering bidders a variety of travel packages and even a 3-day service package from Jon Sundt himself. All-in-all the full live presentation along with Sponsor-A-School and Sponsor-A-State brought in over $90,000, with a generous bidder and supporter, sponsoring the state of Michigan at a whopping $13k - reminding us all of that the importance of this message goes beyond a price tag.

With the evenings overall net income of $170,000, The Sundt Memorial Foundation’s vision is once again realized, for yet another year of distributing a Natural High DVD to every school across the country free of charge, and in hopes of touching the lives of over 31 million students.

It truly was a fascinating and prosperous night for SMF and all the schools across the country that will be benefiting from this grand event. Very special thanks would like to be extended to all the sponsors, donors, and volunteers that made this night above and beyond expectations. All your overwhelming support and enthusiasm has kept this foundation running and helped change the lives of millions of youth across the country. Also a special thanks to In-kind Contributors who also donated their time and/or product to make this event a success.
